Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at American University of Sharjah. Mechanical engineers shape our future. They are instrumental in finding new solutions that progress technology and expand humankind’s horizons. Mechanical engineers are at the helm of innovation in many fields—from designing manned vehicles, autonomous vehicles, space vehicles and fighter jets of the future, to finding greener ways of generating energy.

Faculty

Industrial experience and research achievement are the hallmarks of the Department of Mechanical Engineering's faculty members. Among the leading organizations where our faculty have gained industrial experience are Cameron, Caltech, Caterpillar, GE Aviation, GE Oil and Gas, GE Research Center, Honeywell International, Intel, Rolls-Royce, Schlumberger and Sysense, among others. Our faculty members also regularly contribute to internationally respected engineering and science journals, and have a strong record of impactful research outcomes. This level of expertise provides a highly relevant and engaging education for students at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Our students benefit from our faculty members' extensive theoretical knowledge and are also able to understand how novel research can be of use in commercial environments.
