AUS Alumni Iftar (August 2012)
The AUS Alumni Association (AUSAA) is pleased to invite you to our annual AUS Alumni Sharjah Iftar, scheduled for August 6, 2012 at 6.30 p.m. at the AUS Main Building Rotunda. Unlike Iftars of years past, however, this years's celebration will be dedicated to honor the memory of the late Dr. Ibrahim El Sadek, Professor of Mathematics and Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences May his soul rest in peace.
Universities are living institutions comprised of students, alumni, staff, and faculty. In order to commemorate Dr. El Sadek's unwavering devotion to education at the University he called home, we hope that you will join us in contributing to the "Dr. Ibrahim El Sadek Alumni Scholarship Fund" that the AUSAA Board recently announced, with the institutional endorsement of our alma mater.
The Fund will honor the invaluable contributions that Dr. Ibrahim El Sadek made to creating AUS's leading role in the realm of higher education in the region. Professor El Sadek joined as one of the twelve first faculty members when AUS opened its doors in 1997. As many of you will easily remember, he advised students on their schedules as the Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. In this capacity, almost the entire first generations of AUS undergraduates came to know his affable manners in his office on the second floor of the Chemistry Building. His personal approach of getting to know the needs of so many students first, and then helping to select just the "right" courses was one instance of providing the "personal touch" that has come to characterize AUS.
The Iftar will be a special event well worth remembering. Due to limited seats, we would please ask that you RSVP to the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs at [email protected] no later than July 31, 2012. Please indicate if your spouse/fiancé will be joining you. When you register for the event that evening, we hope that you will honor the memory Associate Dean/Professor El Sadek by contributing any amount that you may deem appropriate to the alumni scholarship fund (waqf) established in his honor.
