Lecture: Drawings from Syria, Transjordan and Arabia Petraea (December 2012)
CAAD Lecture Hall
December 19, 2012
17:00 - 18:00

The re-discovery of long abandoned Roman cities in the Middle East starting in the 18th century lead to a renewed fascination with the archeology of Rome beyond Europe. It was a period that romanticized the exoticism of the Orient and gave rise to an era of focused study. This lecture will present a diverse collection of drawings and etchings of Palmyra, Syria documented during professor Heintz's sabbatical research at the American Academy in Rome.
