AUS Chancellor receives Education Leadership Award
AUS Chancellor Dr. Björn Kjerfve has received the Education Leadership Award from the World Leadership Congress 2015. The award was conferred to Dr. Kjerfve at a ceremony held in Dubai on Tuesday, October 6 and attended by business leaders, leadership experts, futurists and iconic leaders.
The Education Leadership Award is presented to an individual who has crafted leadership with his work and thinking. The World Leadership Congress notes that the award indicates excellence in application of leadership principles to business situations, and that it is given after intense expert research to those who can make a difference to the lives of others.
The World Leadership Congress conference was held under the theme of "If Not Now, When?" with the objective of identifying and celebrating the exceptional leadership and achievements demonstrated by senior leaders who are reflected by their distinct innovations and initiatives.
"As chancellor of one of the leading universities in the region, the idea of leadership is very important to me," said Chancellor Kjerfve in his address to the conference. "Part of the mission of a university is to help the society in which it is located to build future leaders. To do so, the university must ensure that its graduates walk away with more much than simply the credits required to earn a particular degree.
The university must foster in its students the desire to become lifelong learners who have the problem-solving skills and leadership skills needed to navigate the dynamism and increasing complexity of contemporary global processes. The university must lead by example it in its emphasis on innovation and excellence, and on contributing to society at large," Chancellor Kjerfve stated.
