Welcome to the Department of Accounting at the School of Business Administration!
Accounting is the core language of business and is essential to every organization. As technology evolves rapidly, the complexity of accounting work has increased, requiring a strategic approach to decision making rather than routine data entry.
To address these demands, our curriculum is continuously updated to reflect the latest advancements in technology and market trends. We have integrated data analytics and decision making into our accounting degree program, providing our students with skills in tools like Tableau, Power BI and Python. This focus on data analytics gives our graduates a significant advantage in the competitive job market. We also offer courses in forensic accounting, equipping students with the expertise needed for forensic analysis and fraud examination. Additionally, recognizing the importance of local regulations, we have introduced a course on UAE taxation. |-BREAK-|
Our department collaborates closely with leading accounting professional bodies. Our curriculum prepares students for certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), broadening their career opportunities. The high pass rates of our graduates in the CPA exam reflect the quality of our accounting education. Our program is endorsed by the Institution of Management Accountants (IMA) in the US, and some courses meet the requirements of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) for the Chartered Accountant (CA) certification.
We prioritize a student-centered learning approach by maintaining small class sizes. This allows us to tailor education to individual needs, fostering strong communication and engagement between students and faculty, crucial for effective decision-making skills.
Our faculty are highly qualified, with academic and professional experience from prestigious universities in the US and UK. They contribute to the field by publishing research in top-tier journals, covering various accounting and data analytics topics.
Students in our Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) program can participate in faculty research as co-authors or Graduate Research Assistants. Our five-year accelerated program enables students to earn both a BSBA in Accounting and an MSA degree, combining accounting expertise with data-driven decision-making skills.

The Accounting Society (TAS)
The Accounting Society (TAS) is a student-run organization founded in 2011 by the Department of Accounting. Its mission is to promote SBA’s accounting major among students by giving them insight into the exciting opportunities and possible career paths the field offers upon graduation.To empower SBA students to become future business leaders, TAS organizes events that help students connect with executives in accounting firms across the country. It collaborates with prominent organizations such as the Big Four (Deloitte, KPMG, E&Y, PwC) and the IMA (Institute of Management Accountants), and helped to initiate an IMA chapter at AUS.
