Dr. Fares Mohammed Qaid Yahya Al-Shargie Visiting Post-Doctoral Fellow Project: Cognitive Vigilance Assessment and Enhancement Using Audio Stimulation Principal Investigator (PI): Dr. Hasan Al-Nashash Dr. Al-Shargie obtained his PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Universiti Teknologi at Petronas, Malaysia. He worked with the research and development group of Hitachi. Ltd, Japan. Dr. Al-Shargie is interested in performing neuroimaging research using EEG, eye tracking and fNIRS, and developing new data analysis methods. In his current work at AUS, he is aiming to improve cognitive vigilance by developing an objective enhancement technique. |

Dr. Nahid Awad Senior Research Associate Project: Ultrasound and Liposomes in the Treatment of Prostate Cancer Principal Investigator (PI): Dr. Ghaleb Husseini Dr. Nahid Awad obtained her PhD in Biochemistry from the European Bioenergy Research Institute at Aston University (UK) in 2016 and her MS degree from Heriot-Watt University (UK) in 2008. She also holds a post- graduate degree in teaching in higher education from Aston University and is a fellow of the UK’s Higher Education Academy (HEA). Dr. Awad has taught at a number of higher education institutes, including Khartoum University (Sudan) and the Emirates College of Technology (Abu Dhabi). She has strong experience in enhancing algal biomass for biofuel production and pyrolysis of algal biomass. In August 2017, Dr. Awad joined the Drug Delivery Group at AUS, working as a senior research scientist and co-supervising a number of MS research projects within the group. Her current research interest is focused on developing ultrasound activated targeted nanocarriers used for drug delivery in cancer treatment and exploring novel methods for the conversion of algae to high-value chemical products. Dr. Awad has a number of papers published in high impact journals and conference proceedings. |

Postdoctoral Research Associate, PhD in Neuroscience, Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), South Korea.
Prior to joining AUS, Dr. Danka Mohammed pursued a postdoctoral fellowship at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL), New York, USA, which is the home of DNA discovery. He has published his research in Aging Cell, the number one journal in the field of aging study. His research interests include brain aging, neuro degeneration and developmental refinement of visual circuits. His expertise includes cleared whole brain immunolabeling and 3D imaging (iDISCO), animal behavior tests for cognitive and psychiatric assessment, Invivo stereotaxic surgery and neuronal cell culture. His engineering and bioengineering background (master’s degree from University of Strathclyde, UK) helps him to approach his research in an interdisciplinary manner. |

Dr. Anusha Sebastian Postdoctoral Research Associate Project: Design and Synthesis of First-in-Class Nature-Inspired Compounds: Targeting Mitochondrial Metabolism as Novel Anti-cancer Treatment Principal Investigator (PI): Dr. Amin Majdalawieh
Dr. Anusha Sebastian, obtained her PhD in 2017 from Bangalore University, India. Prior to joining AUS, she worked as a Research Assistant in University of Sharjah. She has five years of industrial experience from Sigma Aldrich Chemicals Pvt limited (currently Merck KGaA), India. She has nine international publications and one Indian patent to her credit. Her research interests include transition metal mediated multi-step synthetic transformations, nanomaterial catalysed organic synthesis and drug discovery. Dr. Sebastian has a pleasant personality and is interested in reading self-help books. |
