Fifth Annual Research Symposium in Business and Economics
Overview
The Fifth Annual Research Symposium in Business and Economics is organized by and will be hosted at the School of Business Administration of American University of Sharjah.
Building on the success of prior symposiums, organized by the UAE University in 2009, American University of Sharjah in 2010, Abu Dhabi University in 2011, and UAE University in 2012, this year's symposium will be a great opportunity to meet with colleagues and researchers from all over the world and to be exposed to the latest research in business and economics. It will also be exciting as it is synchronous with business and economics changes and transitions occurring all over the world that raise many interesting research questions.
Paper Submissions
You are cordially invited to submit papers in all areas of accounting, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, human resources, Islamic business, management, management information systems, and marketing. The submission deadline is Thursday, March 14, 2013. Please specify the track (area) to which your manuscript is submitted in the subject line of your submission email.
Each submitted paper is peer reviewed and only accepted papers will be presented. The criteria used to select papers for the symposium include the importance of the research question, implications of the proposed research, the quality of the research design, and the expected contribution of the research to the literature. The review committee will select the best paper in each track and awardees will receive a Best Paper Certificate.
You will be notified of the final decision regarding your submission by Monday, April 8, 2013. Authors of accepted papers will be assigned to discuss a paper. Attendance at the event is free, but the confirmation of your participation will be required by Sunday, April 14, 2013.
In addition to paper presentations and discussions, this symposium will include a panel discussion on corporate transparency and accountability by leading professionals and reputable researchers.

Venue
The 5th Annual Research Symposium in Business and Economics will be held on May 2nd, 2013 at the American University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
Geographically, Sharjah is situated just north of Dubai. Dubai Airport it is a 30 minute drive to American University of Sharjah (AUS) and Sharjah International Airport (SHJ) is a 10 minute drive from AUS. Metered taxis are readily available at both airports and are the suggested form of transportation between the airports and the conference hotel.

American University of Sharjah (AUS) was founded in 1997 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the UAE and Ruler of Sharjah, who envisioned the university as a leading educational institution in the Gulf region. Citizens of other countries will require a visa to enter the United Arab Emirates. If you are flying to the UAE using Emirates Airlines or Air Arabia, the airline can get you the necessary visa if you make the request in advance.
