Dr. Wael Abuzaid
Associate Professor

Dr. Abuzaid received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana‐Champaign in 2012. Before joining AUS, he worked as a research and development engineer at Intel Corporation. His research activities are in the area of experimental solid mechanics, in particular, advanced material characterization of smart and novel materials. He uses advanced experimental and analysis techniques to study material deformation and damage localization at the microstructural level. His recent work is focused on the functional fatigue properties of Iron-based shape memory alloys, shape memory polymers, high entropy alloys, and 4D printing of smart materials. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
