Our research mission is directly aligned with AUS’ vision to be a globally recognized institution that promotes innovation and knowledge creation. By prioritizing interdisciplinary and collaborative research, we are committed to advancing knowledge while supporting AUS’ goal of providing an educational experience that emphasizes creativity, innovation and academic excellence. Our research efforts are strategically aligned with both local and international priorities, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and ensuring that our work has a lasting, meaningful impact. This helps us fulfill AUS’ mission of contributing to society through knowledge, leadership and progress.
Our research mission is guided by the following core principles:
Research governance at AUS is implemented by the University Research and Creative Works Council (URCWC). The URCWC advises the Vice Chancellor for Research in developing and managing the AUS research enterprise, ensuring that academic and research activities are well aligned. The council creates a supportive environment for research and creative works by shaping research strategies and action plans, reviewing and recommending policies, budget allocations, facility space, staffing and infrastructure needs, and ensuring that funding and innovation agendas, as well as undergraduate and graduate programs, are closely integrated with research objectives. The URCWC also actively identifies opportunities for external collaborations and addresses any relevant matters brought forth by its members.
Endowed chairs and professorships at AUS recognize its faculty’s outstanding contributions to research, innovation and academic excellence. These distinguished positions attract top scholars who lead impactful research, mentor future leaders and drive interdisciplinary collaboration in key areas such as sustainability, technology and social innovation. They also reflect AUS’ strong partnerships with donors who share its commitment to education and discovery.
