Job Search Preparation Day (December 2011)
The Office of Development and Alumni Affairs (ODAA) in collaboration with the AUS Schools/Colleges is pleased to organize Job Search Preparation Day (JSPD) for junior and senior students and alumni.
The aim of the JSPD is to prepare our recent graduates, senior and junior students for career opportunities in today's challenging job market.
The day-long event aims to develop specific skills on seeking a job, such as what to include on a resume and in a cover letter, how best to present oneself in job interviews, and common mistakes to avoid. It also includes a practicum where students present themselves and their credentials during mock job interviews and receive immediate feedback from participating industry professionals. Different career opportunities within the respective industries, long-term industry outlooks, recent major developments, and the competitive environment in the upcoming years will be tackled during the Career Exploration Panels at the schools and colleges.
During this event senior human resources and business development officers from leading multinational companies will be invited to lecture on specific topics such (CV and cover letter writing skills, interview skills, labor law, salary trends, etc.). In addition to the lectures, panel discussions at the schools and colleges will shed light on recent labor market trends/changes, career opportunities within specific fields of study, and expectations that graduating students should have during the job search process. These interactive sessions will be followed by a mock interview session that starts at 2 p.m. in the main building rotunda and will end at 5 p.m.
