Peter Baartmans on the Yamaha Clavinova (October 2015)
The Performing Arts Program with Thomsun (Yamaha) is hosting Dutch pianist Peter Baartmans, who will be giving a presentation/demonstration of Yamaha's CVP-709 piano.
Baartmans was born in Steenbergen, the Netherlands, in 1960. At the age of 6 he started to play music. In 1969 he learned to play the piano and church-organ at the music school of Bergen op Zoom. In 1977 he started to study these instruments at the conservatory of Tilburg. During his classical studies at the conservatory, he started to play jazz-music in several jazz-combos and was the pianist in a popular Big Band. At that time he also played in various popular bands where he was the keyboard player for many well-known Dutch artists. In 1980 Peter participated in the Yamaha Electone Festival, and won the first prize in the national and European finals. From 1981 he started to work for Yamaha Musical Instruments, first as a demonstrator in the Netherlands. In 1985 he started to do presentations, and play concerts for Yamaha digital pianos and keyboards all over Europe. Currently, Peter is doing presentations and concerts for Yamaha Corporation of Japan, all over the world. His music is a mixture of classical, jazz and pop.
His great experience as a versatile musician, his unique style of presentation, and the superb sound quality of Yamaha's latest digital instruments, all together, result in a unique and remarkable performance.
All faculty, staff and students are invited to attend. There will be pianos on display to try as well.
