Arabic Poetry Night (March 2019)
Join us for the second annual Arabic Poetry Night, organized by the Deparment of Arabic and Translation Studies Events Committee. AUS students will recite their own poetry and there be a short musical performance. Light refreshments will follow.
Speaker: Ahmad Al-Akhras is a prominent young poet who has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from AUS. He started writing poetry and short stories at the age of 14 and was chosen by the Naji Noaman International Prize as one of the best 50 contemporary poets in 2017. He also achieved the first place in the Arab African Youth Prize for Literary Creativity. He was also chosen as one of the best seven poets in the fifth episode the Ameer Alshura’ poetry competition in 2013.
