AUS and AUST to cooperate in areas of mutual benefit
A delegation from Ajman University of Science and Technology (AUST) met with senior officials from American University of Sharjah (AUS) today, January 16 at AUS to discuss collaboration and cooperation on areas of mutual benefit for both institutions.
"We are very interested to cooperate in areas of common interest especially in areas of research collaboration, faculty and student exchange programs," said Dr. Thomas Hochstettler, AUS Provost.
As a pilot project for this cooperation, the two universities, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, UAE Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of AUS, have agreed to co-host The Fifth Asian Translation Traditions Conference (ATT5) to be held on November 27-29, 2012. The conference will be themed "Patronage and agency in/of Asian Translation Traditions."
"We hope this will go well and then we can develop this relationship further into other areas of common interest such as organizing more events together, co-hosting more conferences and we can collaborate in many other areas for the benefit of both institutions," said Dr. Ahmed Ankit, AUST Vice President for External Relations and Cultural Affairs.
"Both universities have collaborated in many areas with other universities abroad. There is no reason why we should not also collaborate with other universities nearby," said Dr. Basheer Shehadeh, AUST Vice President of Follow-up and Development.
Also present on the occasion were Salem Al Qaseer, AUS Vice Chancellor for Public Affairs, Ali Shuhaimy, AUS Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management, Dr Mark Rush, AUS Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, Dr. Zeinelabidin Alsayed Rizk, AUST Dean of the Institute of Environment, Water and Energy as well as other senior AUS officials.
