AUS students participate in Alleem Project Management Congress
Twenty students from the AUS Student Leadership Program participated in the Seventh Alleem Project Management Congress held on March 10, 2015 in Sharjah. The congress analyzed the effects of the recent financial crisis on project management and focused on how globalization and increased competition were causing an increased demand for project management.
This year's congress also explored the reasons for organizations surviving the meltdown period and how they had to adopt the nine knowledge areas of project management to allow favorable results. Sessions and workshops touched on various themes related to project management such as understanding and managing risks in projects, software project management and innovative project management.
"Keeping in mind that the demand for project management is increasing, it is vital to understand the concepts surrounding it," said Noor Husami, a junior majoring in industrial engineering. "The congress covered nearly all the concepts and topics from definitions to risks. It helped increase my leadership, communication and presentation skills and it expanded my knowledge on a variety of topics and explained projects from a financial point of view (costs, budgets, and profit). All in all, I highly recommend attending it because it provides us with valuable learning tools."
"The Student Leadership Program participates annually in Alleem's various conferences due to the positive feedback received from students. The congress provides students with information, knowledge and skills shared from experts from various fields. Students also got an opportunity to network and listen to CEOs, senior management officials, consultants and government authorities. We encourage students to get involved in Student Leadership Program and take advantage of leadership development opportunities we offer," said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Dean of Students.
