Newly elected AUSAA Council members meet at AUS
The newly elected AUS Alumni Association (AUSAA) Council held its first gathering on October 17 at American University of Sharjah (AUS). The meeting was attended by Dr. Björn Kjerfve, AUS Chancellor; AUSAA Council members, and AUSAA Board representatives.Twenty five alumni volunteers were voted in by the AUS alumni body in the council elections. These individuals represent the various geographical chapters of the association as well as each class from the colleges and schools corresponding to every year of graduation.
In congratulating the newly elected council members, Dr. Kjerfve wished them success in fulfilling their responsibilities. “It is always a pleasure for me to see how great our alumni are and how well they are doing. The many accomplishments of our alumni, including council members, have reminded me that AUS graduates can do anything that they set their minds to,” remarked Dr. Kjerfve.
AUSAA President Samer El Gamal thanked his fellow council members for taking time from their busy schedules to attend the meeting. “Our vision for the coming years is to engage AUS alumni with the association and to encourage them to give back to AUS,” stated El Gamal. “I am also confident that members of the newly elected Alumni Association Council will use their elected term for the development of the university.”
The meeting also served as ground for the newly elected council members to meet and interact with one another and discuss future strategic plans for each respective chapter/class or constituency and the AUS Alumni Association as a whole. The gathering also discussions and appreciated the considerable efforts invested and the great strides made in a short time in providing meaningful opportunities for AUS alumni to connect and network.
