AUS students compete for Rolling Stone internship
Four students from AUS are currently undergoing a selection process for an internship competition at Rolling Stone Middle East magazine.
Founded in 1967, Rolling Stone is an American magazine published twice a month and focuses on music, liberal politics, and popular culture. For the Rolling Stone's internship competition, 15 candidates were selected based on their submitted work and divided into three groups; journalism, photography and integrated marketing. Each category of the competition has five candidates competing for the internship.
The four candidates from AUS are Chaitnyaa Mogli, Noha Youssef, Ayman Akaily and Salma Sobh. Selected candidates are given specific challenges relevant to their category. The candidates will be encouraged to blog, video blog and post their experiences online while gathering the content for their challenge. Their experiences will be posted online where followers will be able to vote for their favorite candidate.
Once the final challenge has been completed and submitted on the deadline date, Rolling Stone Middle East will deliberate and choose one winner from each category, taking into consideration the results of the public vote. The three winners will be awarded the summer internship placement at Rolling Stone Middle East from June 2 until August 30, 2013 in Dubai Media City.
"Rolling Stone is such a legendary publication with so much history and influence over the entertainment industry that the thought of actually being a part of it is almost overwhelming," said Salma Sobh, a sophomore student majoring in marketing and competing in the Journalism category. "I applied online by submitting some work, which I guess they liked, since they contacted me to tell me I've made it as a finalist when registration closed. I was so excited," she added.
Last year, Erina Baftiroska, a student majoring in mass communication at AUS, won the internship.
