Professor Rafia Obaid Ghubash Founder of the Women's Museum, Dubai will give a talk entitled:
"Where I Found Myself: A Beautiful Journey through Medicine, Culture, Teaching and Research"
Rafia Obaid Ghubash is a Professor of Psychiatry and Consultant Psychiatrist. She obtained her PhD in Community and Epidemiological Psychiatry from the University of London. She is the first Emirati female academic to be promoted to the rank of professor in the UAE. She has led major research projects and published extensively in her field. Dr. Ghubash has served as the President of Arabian Gulf University (2001-2009), a GCC sponsored institution based in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Her varied educational and intellectual contributions to national, regional and international organizations is reflected in her membership of professional associations and civic organizations. She is the recipient of the Rashid Awards for Distinguished Scientist, Al-Owais Research Award, the Award of Distinction for Citizens from Um al-Mo'mineen Women Association, and the Sheikh Hamden Ibn Rashid Award for Medical Sciences. Dr. Ghubash has been the President of the Arab Network for Women in Science and Technology since 2005. One of her latest achievements is the establishment of the Women's Museum in Dubai in 2011.
