The Master of Business Administration (MBA) has been designed to provide graduates with the skills needed to be competitive in today's dynamic, global marketplace. Business school graduates today must be exposed to the latest techniques and most current business practices if they are to be prepared to pursue careers in an ever-changing and complex world. The educational experiences our students have as they pursue their MBA at AUS prepare them for productive business careers and enable them to make valuable contributions to the organizations they join.
Using a blended learning course delivery mode that includes both face-to-face and online components, the program offers digital content customized to student needs, catering to different student learning styles and supporting self-paced, flexible learning. This blended model, powered by the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation, allows the program to maximize student effectiveness by exploiting the advantages of technology while maintaining opportunities for face-to-face classroom experiences.
The MBA requires students to complete seven core courses and two elective courses, as well as a six-credit professional research project. The program offers four of the core courses fully online and the rest of the core and elective courses (a total of five) fully face-to-face. The e-learning courses use real-time delivery modes. Emphasis is placed on ensuring students’ learning experiences are equivalent to the traditional face-to-face mode of delivery. Students are able to maintain a high level of engagement with the instructor and with their classmates through the Blackboard Collaborate tool.
MBA graduates will be prepared for careers in management and leadership positions in both the private and public sectors. They will acquire a comprehensive foundation in the fundamentals of business in the global environment in which they function. They also learn the skills and analytical tools for effective communicating and decision making. Individual participation is emphasized through class discussions, case study methodology, and interaction and cooperation with other students in the class. Graduates of the program are prepared to identify, analyze and understand the interrelationships among business organizations and international and domestic institutions in the UAE and throughout the world. Our students also develop an awareness of societal and environmental needs and concerns as they relate to ethical, professional and socially responsible business practices.
The blended learning model for the MBA is the result of a collaboration between AUS and the University Consortium for Quality Online Learning (UCQOL), founded in 2021 by the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation (AGF) in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Education and nine leading universities from throughout the United Arab Emirates. The aim of UCQOL is to strengthen university e-learning systems, develop high-quality online and hybrid courses, and build capacity within the consortium to provide well-supported, learner-centered online education.
Members of the Graduate Program Office are available to help our students make course selections in keeping with their career interests, plan their schedules and assist with administrative requirements.
Graduate student employment provides an opportunity to assist faculty members with course administration, research and other activities. Students may work up to 20 hours per week and are paid on an hourly basis.
A limited number of graduate research assistantships (GRAs) are also available on a competitive basis. Recipients of these awards receive full or partial tuition payment and/or a stipend payment in return for assisting a faculty member with a research project in the student's area of interest.
The outreach efforts of SBA are focused on building networks with companies that support AUS programs and provide job opportunities for our graduates. Requests from employers are passed along to students and graduates with the appropriate qualifications.
