AUS receives IT award
American University of Sharjah (AUS) is one of the recipients of the Middle East Top 50 CIO (Chief Information Officers) Awards for 2013. Leo De Sousa, Director of Information Technology at AUS, was presented with the award in a ceremony at the Address Hotel in Dubai Marina on January 30.
The Middle East Top 50 CIO Awards are organized by Dubai-based Corporate Publishing International and celebrate the top 50 organizations that use information technology in innovative ways to provide value, improve relationships with customers, enable growth, create competitive advantage and optimize business processes. Other awardees include DP World, Etisalat, Emirates Flight Catering and General Electric. AUS was nominated by Ellucian, which is the vendor for the Banner products that the university uses.
"I was honored to accept the award on behalf of the AUS technical leadership. It is a dedication to improving technology use in institutions of higher education," said De Sousa. "It shows AUS's commitment to providing an innovative and advanced learning environment for its students," he added.
De Sousa and his team are working to improve the AUS IT platform to support the university's strategic direction as a leading university in the region.
