The AUS Alumni and Corporate Sports Challenge is an opportunity to get active while making an impact on the next generation of AUS students.
As we celebrate the 25th anniversary of American University of Sharjah, we've set a goal to provide the equivalent of 25 scholarships for 25 full-time AUS students via the Silver Jubilee Scholarship Fund.
From April 10 to 25, AUS alumni and corporate partners are invited to help us reach this ambitious goal by participating in a range of fun sports challenges for individuals and teams.
Read on for more details about how to get involved, how to register and how your contribution will make a difference.
To help us raise the equivalent of 25 scholarships for 25 AUS students, you can choose between three levels of participation.
If you're unable to join any of the sports challenges, you also have the option to purchase tickets to the Get Active for Education: Alumni and Friends of AUS Iftar on April 26.
Payments can be made directly to the Silver Jubilee Scholarship Fund. Once you have registered, an AUS representative will be in touch with you to coordinate payment.
Includes access to one sports activity. Iftar not included.
Includes access to all sport activities and an iftar pass for one person.
Includes access to all sports activities and an iftar pass for two people.
Participants may purchase a maximum of two extra iftar passes.
Walk or run a minimum of 3 km every day between April 10 to 25, tracking your progress on the MoveSpring app. (Note: Details about how to use the app will be shared with you once you register.)
This category is open to both AUS alumni and corporate participants. Your final completed distance will be tallied based on your individual performance and as a member of your AUS academic college/school (i.e., CAAD, CAS, CEN or SBA) or the company you represent.
The total distance walked/run by each college/school or company will be calculated as an average, so it doesn't matter if there are two or two hundred on your team—you still have a chance to win!

Notes:
As AUS celebrates its Silver Jubilee this year, the Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs is spearheading the #25for25 initiative, which aims to raise the equivalent of 25 scholarships for 25 AUS students.
All funds raised through your participation in the AUS Alumni and Corporate Sports Challenge will be directed to the AUS Silver Jubilee Scholarship fund—an unrestricted non-endowment fund that will be used to address the critical needs of our students. The students who benefit from this fund will be selected for their good academic standing and demonstrated financial need as determined by the university’s financial grants and scholarships review process.

“Studying architecture at AUS has proven to be the most challenging years of my life. However, passion, persistence and a scholarship were my turning point at AUS, and remembering how much of a blessing it was to get educated has been so important. The gift of scholarships encouraged me to work hard and to never settle for mediocrity.”
Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering | College of Engineering
"I am delighted to have received an endowed scholarship towards my tuition for my sophomore year at AUS. I aim to study/research/work in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning in the future. With this in mind, I am putting my best efforts in learning and assimilating all that is taught. As for my parents, they have limited financial resources and could not have possibly afforded to sponsor the entire tuition fee. I genuinely needed this additional sponsorship. I am grateful for being the recipient of it. Thank you."
