Gong Qihuang
Dr. Gong Qihuang is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. An optics expert, he has engaged in cutting-edge research on nonlinear optics and spatiotemporal small-scale optics and made systematic innovative contributions in material properties, new effects and applications. He has previously won second prize in the National Natural Science Award, first prize at the Beijing Science and Technology Award, first prize at the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award, and the Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress Award presented by the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation. The results of his research have been selected as being among the “Top 10 Scientific and Technological Advances in Chinese Universities” on three occasions.
In 2013, Dr. Gong was elected to the Chinese Academy of Sciences and became a member of the World Academy of Sciences in 2018. He has also been elected as a fellow of the Institute of Physics, UK (2007), the Optical Society of America (2010), and the International Society for Optics and Photonics (2018).
Since June 2022, Dr. Gong has served as the president of Peking University and the dean of its Graduate School. He currently serves as the vice-chairman of the International Commission for Optics (ICO), is a standing committee member of the China Association for Science and Technology, and vice-chairman of the Beijing Association for Science and Technology.
