Faculty Positions in Physics
TWO FACULTY POSITIONS IN PHYSICS. The Department of Physics at American University of Sharjah (AUS) is seeking applications for two full-time faculty positions, preferably at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The first position, with an anticipated start date of January 2025, is designated for applicants with strong research profiles and expertise to support both the undergraduate program and the materials of science PhD program. The second position, with an anticipated start date of August 2025, is open to candidates with expertise in all areas of physics.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: All candidates must hold a PhD in Physics and be familiar with a North American-style educational system. Applicants should demonstrate a robust research background, as evidenced by high-quality publications in leading peer-reviewed journals. Successful candidates will be expected to maintain an active and productive research agenda, supervise senior research projects, secure external research funding and participate in international collaborations. Candidates must also provide evidence of excellence in teaching across all levels of the curriculum and demonstrate strong proficiency in English communication.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE: A complete application must include two PDF files. The first file should contain the following: a cover letter, the candidate’s curriculum vitae with contact information for three references, a research statement, and a teaching statement that includes a list of courses the candidate has taught or is qualified to teach. The second file should contain transcripts of both undergraduate and graduate education (initial scanned copies are acceptable). The references will be required to submit letters of recommendation that evaluate the applicant's research capabilities, with at least one specifically addressing the applicant's teaching abilities.
