Joseph Gibbs worked as a reporter and editor on Greater Boston-area newspapers and taught at Boston College and Boston University prior to joining AUS in 2002. His research and publications have addressed various media-related and historical topics. He holds three degrees, including an interdisciplinary doctorate combining policy and communication studies, from Boston University.
