Usman Tariq worked as a research scientist in the Computer Vision group at the Xerox Research Center, Europe, before joining AUS. Dr. Tariq's research interests include computer vision, image processing and machine learning, in general. More specifically, he is interested in object recognition, object detection, face recognition, soft biometrics, sparse coding and deep learning. His Google Scholar page can be found here.

Palm Trees Detection in Satellite Images, Vista Competition - Dubai Air Show, Team Dech comprising of myself and Ms. Florence Wacheux were the finalists amongst the top 6 teams that took part in Palm Trees Detection Vista Challenge. This was held in collaboration with Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) at the Dubai Air Show. 3D Eye Segmentation Challenge 2021, Facebook Technologies, LLC, CA, USA, Team NainaNet comprising Dr. Usman Tariq, Dr. Abhinav Dhall from Monash University, Australia and Jyot Makadiya from Nirma University, India were third place winners of the Eye Tracking 3D Eye Segmentation Challenge (“Contest”) sponsored by Facebook Technologies, LLC.
