Relay for Life (January 2025)

Join us at AUS for Relay For Life, one of the world’s largest community outreach events to spread awareness and raise funds in the fight against cancer, organized by Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP) in collaboration with the American Cancer Society.

Throughout this 24-hour event, teams of volunteers will walk or run around the AUS track, symbolizing the arduous journey of those afflicted with cancer. Each team is required to have a member on the track at all times, highlighting the fact that cancer never rests. Registration is free and open to all at https://joinrfl.focp.ae/, with opportunities to join the event or contribute through direct donations. Individuals from all walks of life can participate and walk around the track at their own pace. 

The event will also include entertainment and inspirational talks on the main stage, awareness events, food stalls and an Activity Zone for children. Celebrations of survivors and tributes to those who have lost their lives to cancer are also part of the event. 

Funds raised during the event will directly support cancer patients through their treatment journey, as well as early detection programs. 

About Relay for Life
Relay For Life began in the USA in May 1985 when colorectal surgeon Dr. Gordy Klatt wanted to raise awareness of cancer and boost the income of his local cancer charity. Since then, RFL has become the largest fundraising event for cancer in the world. The MENA region’s first-ever Relay For Life launched in 2017 under the directives of Shaikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, Founder and Patron of the Friends of Cancer Patients. Relay for Life UAE aims to support cancer patients by creating a supportive community around them and their families, increase awareness about prevention and raise funds for the fight against cancer.
