American University of Sharjah earns CIPS certification
As part of its commitment to high operational standards, American University of Sharjah (AUS) has earned the Chartered Institute for Procurement and Supply (CIPS) certification in Corporate Ethical Procurement and Supply 2020.
This achievement means that all of AUS’ procurement and supply chain management staff took the CIPS Ethics E-Learning course and successfully completed the assessment to evidence their commitment to upholding the CIPS Code of Ethics in all their procurement and supply management activity. The course addresses issues such as fraud, human rights abuses and the impact of procurement on the environment. As part of the certification, AUS has signed a Statement of Commitment to ethical sourcing and the management of its suppliers.
“We have reviewed our supply chain practices to ensure our values are reflected in our supply and procurement chain. The final step in this process is this accreditation, which we are delighted to have achieved,” said Dr. Jeannette Vinke, AUS Chief Operating Officer, who attend a virtual ceremony held to honor the achievement.
Following the certification, AUS has been added to the CIPS Corporate Ethics Register, a list of select organizations that have taken proactive steps in the last 12 months to safeguard against unethical conduct in procurement and supply management. These organizations have adopted ethical values in how they source and manage suppliers and ensure that their staff who select and manage suppliers are trained in ethical sourcing and supplier management.
