AUS and Crescent Group deliver high-level training for women empowerment
The Center for Executive and Professional Education (CEPE) at American University of Sharjah (AUS) began a bespoke training program for female employees from regional business conglomerate Crescent Group today, September 27.
The executive education program is designed specifically for female employees across different business functions of Crescent Group, with the view to empower working women emphasizing the practical application of business theory.
Crescent Group is one of the most progressive family business groups in the Middle East and North Africa and operates its two subsidiaries, Crescent Petroleum and Crescent Enterprises, with more than 25 diversified companies across nine industry sectors, including petroleum, ports and logistics, power and engineering, aviation, healthcare, media and entertainment, real estate and construction, IT commerce and private equity.
Dr. Ilias Visvikis, Director for the Center for Executive and Professional Education, said, “We have designed this program to provide high-level training that will empower the women of Crescent Group to become effective, innovative and adaptive leaders in their respective organization and within their current roles."
Guided by Dr. Savita Kumra and Dr. Linzi Kemp, both Associate Professors of Management from the School of Business Administration (SBA) at AUS, the participants will complete a structured environmental analysis utilizing a “gender lens” in order to understand gender diversity issues in the workplace and develop personal tactics and strategies on how to deal with these issues and gain advancement opportunities.
The group of 14 participants will leave with a series of practical strategies to advance in their own careers, and will cover the essential elements of leadership, power, negotiation strategies, public speaking, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution and managing across genders.
The program will be delivered on the AUS campus in the dedicated Executive Education seminar rooms of CEPE, as well as the state-of-the-art laboratories of the College of Arts and Sciences of American University of Sharjah (AUS).
