AUS captures fourth consecutive title at the AUS Men’s Intercollegiate Swimming Competition
For the fourth time in a row, the AUS men's swimming team won the intercollegiate swimming title at the Fourth AUS Men's Intercollegiate Swimming Competition, which was held on December 15. Despite the dearth of annual swimming competitions, the Leopards have trained hard and stayed in top form, which was evidenced by their dominating performance during the competition.
Organized by the Office of Student Affairs' Student Athletics and Recreation Department (SARD), the event featured swimmers from AUS, American University of Dubai, American University of RAK, University of Sharjah and Manipal University. The Leopards won the gold in six of eight individual events. Khalil Sido, Tareef Tamim, Cian Richardson and Shady Waleed won gold in one event each, and Amr Mohd Ashraf won in two. The Leopards also placed first in the 4x50 team medley relay.
The final results had AUS in first place with 134 points, University of Sharjah in second place with 88 points and American University of Dubai in third place with 30 points.
The closing ceremony commenced in the Sports Complex lobby where the Director of the Student Athletics and Recreation Department, Dr. Mohamed Helal, was on hand to deliver the welcoming address. During this time he expressed his gratitude to all the participating universities and SARD staff that helped make this event a success.
Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, congratulated the AUS swimmers for winning the championship once again. She also praised the team for its consistent performances and for maintaining such a high standard, both in and out of the pool.
