AUS celebrates Arab World Orphan Day
The Office of Students Affairs (OSA), Community Services Department, in association with Human Appeal International (Ajman), held an entertaining trip for orphans in celebration of the Arab World Orphan Day on Tuesday, April 2, 2013.
Twenty Community Services volunteers from American University of Sharjah joined 14 orphans from the Human Appeal in Ras Alkhaimah in a whole day trip to Banyan Tree Al Wadi Resort, Ras Al Khaimah. Each orphan was accompanied bt at least two volunteers who helped them enjoy their day.
The orphans enjoyed playing in the Kids Club area with the students and other activities in the resort, such as camel riding and archery. They also visited the Falcon View, where they attended an informative lecture about the different types of falcons and hawks.
"This project is hugely popular with our students. The time they spent with the orphansis a contribution to community service that makes us all proud of our students," said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
