AUS celebrates Sharakah partner schools from across the UAE at virtual Appreciation Day
As part of its community engagement efforts, American University of Sharjah (AUS) organized a special event today, November 5, entitled Principals and Counselors’ Appreciation Day. The event recognized UAE schools that are part of the popular AUS Sharakah Program.
More than 100 principals and counselors from 42 schools across the country participated in the online event. The Sharakah Program, a partnership initiated by the university’s Office of Enrollment Management (OEM) between AUS and select high schools, currently boasts an enrollment of more than 75 schools. It aims to support the university’s strategic initiative to create a platform for cooperation in various academic and non-academic areas. These include the engagement of teachers and students through training sessions, workshops, as well as cultural, social, and sporting activities.
Ali Shuhaimy, Executive Director of Enrollment Management at AUS, welcomed the attendees and thanked the schools for their strong ties with the university.
He said: “This is an occasion where we celebrate the close collaborative relationship we have with all the schools. It is also a platform for exchanging ideas and feedback to support the development of plans to prepare school students for university studies. It also provides us with an excellent opportunity to exchange relevant information pertaining to the overall improvement of our partnership.”
Shuhaimy added: “We plan to continue to solidify our relationship and engagement with the schools through this program to build on the achievements of the past few years.”
During the event, the school officials were informed about the numerous scholarships offered by the university including: the Sharakah Scholarship, Chancellor’s Scholarship, Financial Grant Awards, Deans’ List and Chancellor’s List Scholarships, Family Tuition Grants, and Most Active Athlete Student and Most Active Student Scholarships. The AUS endowed scholarships fund, valued at about AED 95 million, benefits approximately two-thirds of all AUS students each year through merit scholarships and need-based financial grants. These scholarships are available to all students, regardless of race, color, gender, religion or national origin. Currently, 1,026 students from Sharakah schools benefit from AUS scholarships, receiving a combination of 1,812 awards.
