AUS Chancellor visits Technip in Abu Dhabi
As part of the American University of Sharjah (AUS) strategic initiative to forge organic partnerships between academia and leading strategic partners from public and private sectors, Dr. Björn Kjerfve, Chancellor, and Dr. Nada Mourtada-Sabbah, Vice Chancellor for Development and Alumni Affairs, visited Technip in Abu Dhabi recently to explore avenues of mutual cooperation between the leading oil and gas company and AUS.
The visit also offered the opportunity for Chancellor Kjerfve and Vice Chancellor Mourtada-Sabbah to meet with the 10 AUS graduates Technip recently hired and to learn about their progress and achievements. The AUS alumni at Technip formed into a focus group, providing constructive feedback on the usefulness and relevance to AUS graduates of new programs the university Chancellor wished to explore. The AUS graduates currently forging careers at Technip include Ahmed Zein El-Messalami, Hazem Ayman Bagh, Faris Abdalla, Hadi El Turk, Hashim Majid Hafiz, Hussein Attie, Muhammed Tahsin Rahman, Ali Chehadeh, Emad Eldin Mohammad Kishta and Islam S. Shahin.
Speaking on the occasion, Vaseem Khan, CEO of Technip, said, "We are very proud to be associated with American University of Sharjah, an institution at the very forefront of academic excellence. The AUS values and desire to advance human capital in the region are very much in keeping with Technip's own ideals and practices."
Chancellor Kjerfve added, "It is always a pleasure to see firsthand how our alumni are succeeding in their careers across a wide variety of fields, and to hear from them about how we can continue to improve AUS. I look forward to continuing our work with Technip as part of what I hope will be a longstanding and mutually beneficial partnership."
