AUS College of Engineering celebrates Dean’s List of over 450 students at Honors Convocation
American University of Sharjah’s (AUS) College of Engineering (CEN) celebrated the academic achievements of 468 undergraduate students at its annual Honors Convocation on January 30. The event recognized students who had achieved a GPA of 3.5 or higher and were named to the Dean’s List for the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters.
“I am delighted to recognize and celebrate the success of our latest group of engineering and computer science students. They are all inspiring examples of the life-changing education and supportive community we foster at CEN,” said Dr. Fadi Aloul, Dean of CEN. “Each year, the growing number of high-performing students in our college demonstrates the transformative power of our programs, as well as AUS’ ability to attract top students from across the region. It’s a pleasure to congratulate these young, ambitious students and witness how CEN is helping to prepare and empower them for their future careers.”
The Honors Convocation featured a keynote address by Yara Aljabi, a distinguished industrial engineering alumna, who shared insights from her academic journey and career. Aljabi encouraged students to leverage the unparalleled resources and opportunities available at AUS, while emphasizing the importance of leadership and giving back to society.
Shaikha Alnoman Alshamsi, a chemical engineering student, shared her journey since joining AUS:
“At CEN, my courses in chemical engineering challenged me to think critically and apply my knowledge to real-world situations, deepening my understanding and fueling my passion for the field. Hands-on experiences like my internship at the Sharjah Energy and Water Authority exposed me to the real-world impact of my studies. Being named to the Chancellor’s List and taking on leadership roles further built my confidence and confirmed that I had chosen the right major—one that has prepared me for a successful career and future in engineering.”
American University of Sharjah (AUS) continues to excel globally, ranking among the top 22 percent of universities worldwide by QS World University Rankings (2025). AUS provides students with a leading edge across many engineering disciplines, ranking first in the UAE for civil engineering; in the top three for mechanical, aeronautical and manufacturing engineering; and in the top five for chemical, electrical and electronic engineering, according to the QS World University Rankings by Narrow Subjects. Employers across various industries also recognize AUS graduates for their exceptional employability and leadership, contributing to the university’s second-place ranking in the UAE for employer reputation (QS World University Rankings, 2025).
