AUS community supports Adopt an Orphan Bride campaign
The Adopt an Orphan Bride campaign was launched on October 1 by the Office of Student Affairs’ Community Services Division and received astounding support from the American University of Sharjah (AUS) community. The campaign was aimed at supporting the wedding needs of two brides, under the care of the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation. The campaign lasted for two weeks and contributions received from the AUS community included wedding dresses, shoes, handbags and cosmetics. The contributions were presented by the student volunteers to the foundation on October 18.
“At AUS Community Service, we have many volunteering and humanitarian initiatives focused on the welfare of orphans. From supporting them by creating decent shelters to entertainment trips and other worthwhile activities, we believe that these initiatives create a sense of community and contribute to building a stronger society overall,” said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Dean of Students.
