AUS concludes English language course for Sharjah government professionals
A cohort of professionals from various government departments in Sharjah completed a 40-hour course of two levels of Business English held over five weeks. The program, which was designed specifically to assist 34 professionals with the skills required to communicate confidently in English, ran from October 13 to Novemeber 26.
In order to meet the needs of the participants and enable them to use the language more confidently, the program devoted 16 hours in the language computer lab where participants explored many interactive e-activities that complemented the curriculum and supported the participants’ vocabulary building, reading comprehension, and more. The participants were granted long-term access to online resources and were encouraged to continue to practice online whenever possible to enhance independent learning experiences beyond the class.
Organizing the course is part of the many activities and events AUS arranges in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) it signed with the Directorate of Human Resources (DHR) of the Government of Sharjah in 2011. It is also part of the university's mission to engage with organizations within the emirate.
