AUS graduate student wins Best Paper Award at the IEEE Jordan International Conference on Electrical Engineering and Information Technology
AUS Biomedical Engineering (MSBME) graduate student, Sajedah Al-Momanin, won the Best Paper Award for the Biomedical Engineering track at the IEEE Jordan International Conference on Electrical Engineering and Information Technology held in Amman from April 9 to 11.
The paper titled "Epileptogenic Foci Time Varying Source Localization Using Source Affine Image Reconstruction Algorithm” was co-advised by Electric Engineering Professor Hasan Mir and Dr. Hasan Al-Nashash, Interim Director, Biosciences and Bioengineering Research Institute and Director of the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Program.
Both professors noted the importance of this paper, which addresses an important issue in healthcare in the region. “Aljalila Foundation generously supported this project from the beginning which benefited our student Sajeda Almomani in her MSBME (Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering) research work. This award is a testimony of her dedication and the quality of our MSBME students at AUS,” they said.
Al-Momani described her experience saying:
“Being a part of the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Program at AUS has opened doors for me to develop my skills and reach my goal of becoming a qualified researcher. Working at the AUS facilities helped strengthen my academic skills and taught me new research skills. The challenges I faced through the learning process helped me become a better thinker and learner. My biggest achievement so far is winning the Best Paper Award for my paper. A lot of the credit goes to my advisors Dr. Hasan Mir and Dr. Hasan Al-Nashash for providing me with the beswt advising platform, I would not have accomplished this if it was not for their constant help and support.”
JEEIT 2019 is a unique forum to discuss practical approaches and state of the art findings in using the applied electrical engineering and information technologies to solve national problems that face Jordan and other developing countries. JEEIT 2019 merges the following three conferences in one big conference with one organizing committee, one program, and one proceedings: IEEE AEECT 2019, JIEEEC, and ICIT 2019.
