AUS holds executive education sessions and Global Executive MBA graduation ceremony for China’s premier business school
Ninety successful candidates of the Global Executive MBA program at the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) received their degrees at a special commencement ceremony held in the Main Auditorium of American University of Sharjah (AUS), Saturday, October 7, 2018. The visit and the executive education program were organized and hosted by the AUS Center for Executive and Professional Education (CEPE).
Held for the first time in the UAE, the ceremony saw the graduating class, comprising a multinational cohort of business leaders and executives, receive their Global Executive MBA degrees from Dr. Dipak Jain, President (European) of CEIBS.
Earlier on in the weekend, faculty members from the Department of Economics at the AUS School of Business Administration delivered executive education sessions for members of the graduating class and CEIBS officials. Dr. Ilker Kaya, Associate Professor of Economics, and Dr. Samer Kherfi, Associate Professor of Economics, presented lectures on UAE’s macroeconomic trends and the region, as well as on future plans and trends of the UAE in terms of the country’s key sectors and industries. The sessions were followed by an engaging talk by Dr. Jain.
With more than 20,000 alumni, CEIBS is the premier business school in China. With AUS achieving global recognition for the quality of its undergraduate and graduate business programs, the growing synergy between the two institutions is a natural step in their development.
Speaking about the university’s increasing relationship with institutions in China, Chancellor Kjerfve said:
“AUS is very proud of its multinational student body and counts a number of talented young men and women from China among its members. Over the past few years, we have established ties with some of the best educational and research institutions in China and believe that such collaborations will result in growth and development that will be of tremendous mutual benefit. CEIBS is an outstanding institution and we are very pleased to host their Global EMBA graduation ceremony on our campus.”
President Jain also spoke about the enormous possibilities that could result from the partnership with AUS:
“CEIBS has worked hard to incorporate into its curriculum the latest developments and practices from the business world, and its team of expert faculty continues to keep pace with the changes that are constantly occurring in the global marketplace. We are delighted to share our experience with AUS, one of the region’s top business schools. Our collaboration fits in well with our focus on CEIBS’ internationalization. We are grateful for the hospitality and warm welcome afforded to us by AUS and look forward to many such occasions and stronger ties in the future.”
The commencement ceremony was attended by members of the graduates’ families as well as senior officials from CEIBS and AUS.
