AUS holds Job Search Preparation Day for senior students and alumni
Senior students and alumni of American University of Sharjah (AUS) attended Job Search Preparation Day held on campus recently, in order to prepare themselves for career opportunities in the current job market. The successful day-long event was organized by the Career Services unit of the Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs (OAAA) at AUS, in collaboration with prominent human resources leaders from top employers operating in the region.
In his welcoming remarks, Charles A. Diab, Executive Director of Advancement and Alumni Affairs at AUS, thanked the many companies participating in the event for offering advice on how students could secure a job after graduating. “At AUS, our aim is to prepare our students for life beyond our campus, and part of that is ensuring that they carry with them the skills to succeed in their careers,” he added.
The event started with a keynote panel that included speakers Arun David, Director Digital Services, PwC Middle East; Negin Cooper, Head of Talent Acquisition and HR Business Partner, L’Oreal; and Liliana Abou Ghaida, Senior Talent Acquisition Partner, GE. The companies present also conducted workshops on job search strategies, careers in consultancy and sales engineering, communication in the workplace, and effective networking skills. In addition, students presented themselves and their credentials during mock job interviews, and received feedback from industry professionals.
Participating companies included Air Liquide, Al Ghurair Group, Al Sayegh Media, Arla Foods, Bayt, Bosch, Chalhoub Group, Cummins, Danone, Du, EMAAR, Ernst & Young, 3M, GE, Grundfos, Gulftainer, Henkel, Internsme, L’Oreal, Philips, PwC Digital, Reckitt Benckiser, Synkers, The cARTel and WSP.
