AUS holds second successful annual carnival
American University of Sharjah (AUS) held its second annual carnival yesterday, Wednesday, February 25, 2016, on campus. The event attracted more than 1,000 visitors, comprising various age groups, from all around the campus. Organized by the AUS Student Council and the Office of Student Affairs, the festive evening was a resounding success as people enjoying delicious food, music and entertainment. The carnival featured dance and music performances by several AUS students as well as a beat boxing performance. A group of professional African drummers also performed at the event.
The carnival featured outdoor challenge games that included a bull ride, plate range, six skim jams, jumping castles, a bar-hang challenge, and much more. The university's campus community enjoyed the festive atmosphere, with families, children and students all sharing the fun and excitement. Tents were also set up for gaming activities. A host of food choices including brownies, sushi, donuts, mini pancakes, and shawarma were on offer.
Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Dean of Students at AUS, expressed her pride at the AUS Student Council for its hard work and interest in organizing the carnival. "The Student Council's enthusiasm in organizing unique events for the AUS community was the driving force behind the success of the AUS Carnival. They have worked hard as a team and achieved good results," she said.
"We support such events that help our students hone their skills and talents while at the same time providing them with a platform to network and socialize with their peers in a fun and entertaining atmosphere. I thank everyone who joined us in this event," added Dr. Al Shehhi.
