AUS professor co-author of new book: Key Questions in Second Language Acquisition
Dr. Alessandro Benati, Professor and Head of the American University of Sharjah Department of English, is the co-author with Bill VanPatten and Megan Smith of forthcoming Key Questions in Second Language Acquisition from Cambridge University Press.
The new book provides a comprehensive review of the key questions addressed by research and theories in second language acquisition. ‘‘This book is written in a clear and accessible way and it provides a valuable introduction on second language acquisition key questions for students, teachers and general educators” said Professor Benati.
The new book has already received praise and endorsements from leading scholars in the field.
"The authors have managed to find the perfect tone to engage, excite even, the reader while delivering a seriously large amount of information. Many difficult/dynamic questions are addressed without infantilizing the audience. And still, little to no prior knowledge is needed to get the full benefits of this book. In this respect, this book would be a very nice introduction even for the very seasoned linguist or psychologist that works on theory, language acquisition or processing yet does not do so in the domain of sequential bi-/multilingualism. In a nutshell, this book is current, complete, well-informed and well-articulated. It is a must have for everyone who studies or is interested in second language acquisition," said Jason Rothman, University of Reading.
Key Questions in Second Language Acquisition will be available in January 2020.
