AUS professor elected as an IEEE distinguished lecturer
Dr. Ghaleb Husseini, Professor of Chemical Engineering at AUS, has been elected as an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) distinguished lecturer for the Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS). Dr. Husseini will serve in this esteemed position for a term of two years.
Elected for his research on an ultrasound technology to minimize the side-effects of chemotherapy, Dr. Ghaleb was chosen from a group of prominent candidates. The selectees Dr. Ghaleb competed with included professors from Harvard, Georgia Tech and the National Cancer Institute, the largest cancer research institute in the world.
"It is a great honor to be elected as a distinguished lecturer in the IEEE-Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society," said Dr. Husseini. "It gives me an excellent opportunity to share part of the important research that is currently being conducted at American University of Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates and in the MENA region," he added.
