AUS receives donation of AED200,000 from Sharjah Patient’s Friends Committee
American University of Sharjah (AUS) received a donation of AED200,000 from the Patient's Friends Committee in Sharjah to support the university's research studies. The donation check was handed over by Mohammad Jowdar, the Executive Director of the Patient's Friends Committee, to Dr. Leland Blank, Dean of Engineering at AUS, in the presence of Dr. Ghaleb Husseini, Professor of Chemical Engineering at AUS.
Jowdar highlighted the university's role under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and President of AUS, in providing the best environment for scientific research by its faculty members and administration. He expressed his appreciation towards the AUS research team working to develop a targeted chemotherapy treatment.
Dr. Blank thanked the efforts of the committee. "We thank the Patient's Friends Committee for its generous donation, submitted by its Executive Director, Mr. Mohammad Jowdar. This is indeed a life-saving gift in at least two ways. It will support a program in cancer research at AUS and it may well help save lives in the future as further experimental test are performed," he said.
