AUS Sharakah Edurathon 2023 embraces enthusiasm among students and education professionals
American University of Sharjah (AUS) was buzzing with the excitement of students, school professionals and AUS representatives participating in the AUS Sharakah Edurathon 2023 on February 18, 2023. AUS' state-of-the-art campus provided the route for passionate participants to run and compete amidst an atmosphere filled with fun and excitement.
The event saw a competitive gathering of representatives from AUS Sharakah schools from across UAE including The First Academy School in Ajman, Sharjah American International School in Umm Al Quwain, Al Durrah International School in Sharjah, GEMS Westminster School in Sharjah, The Westminster School in Dubai, Pace British School in Sharjah, Emirates American School in Ajman, Al Shola Private School-Falah in Sharjah, American School of Creative Science in Sharjah, and Shola School in Sharjah.
In addition, representatives from Curtin University Dubai and from the AUS Department of Civil Engineering, Achievement Academy and Wellness program joined the competition to showcase their skills, endurance and speed.
The Edurathon 2023 united education and marathon, creating a space for physical activity and the promotion of sportsmanship and teamwork. Ali Shuhaimy, Executive Director of Enrollment Management at AUS, stated: “The event provided an excellent platform for education professionals and students to connect, network and share best practices while engaging in a fun and fulfilling experience. We are excited to witness the positive impact of this event and look forward to seeing higher community participation in future events.”
Organized by the AUS Office of Enrollment Management (OEM)-Sharakah Program under the theme #keeponmoving, the event is an AUS community outreach program that aims to promote physical activity and networking opportunities among school professionals including principals, counselors, teachers and administrators.
Ahmad Mutasim, Career Counselor at Sharjah American International School, Umm Al Quwain, was declared the winner of AUS Sharakah Edurathon 2023.
He said:”As a school counselor, I've spent my career helping others achieve their goals. Today, I'm proud to have reached my own personal milestone in the Edurathon. Let this victory inspire us all to never give up on our dreams, and to continue supporting and uplifting one another along the way."
The participants were not only treated to a fun-filled day of running, but also enjoyed other exciting activities and entertainment such as food and refreshments in addition to medals for race completion.
The Sharakah Program is an outreach initiative of the American University of Sharjah and is designed to strengthen the relationship between AUS and schools in the region. The program offers a wide range of activities, including teacher training, student competitions and professional development opportunities aimed at promoting the pursuit of knowledge and the development of leadership skills among education professionals.
