AUS signs MoU with Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club
American University of Sharjah (AUS) and Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club (DCSC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today, December 15, 2011, marking the increased cooperation between the local community and AUS.
The first MoU between AUS and DCSC was signed in December 2008. Since then, the AUS Achievement Academy Outreach Program has provided several General English, TOEFL and ILETS preparation courses for students and professionals. The program provided 15 different courses for over 320 students from Al Dhaid and the surrounding areas.
The new MOU was signed by Dr. Peter Heath, Chancellor of AUS, and Khalifa Bin Huwaiden, Chairman of DCSC.
Speaking on the occasion, Chancellor Heath said, "The fact that Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club has asked to extend our partnership indicates their satisfaction with the quality service we provide them. This partnership sets a successful benchmark for future collaborations with cultural clubs in the UAE."
Bin Huwaiden said, "We are very grateful this cooperation has endured over the past three years and resulted in producing many successful accomplishments in the community. This is a great success in expanding the education vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, UAE Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and President of AUS, who we also want to wish him a full and speedy recovery."
"We are honored to renew this partnership with American University of Sharjah, and we look forward to becoming more productive and to embrace more services through our collaboration over the next three years," he added.
Dr. Thomas Alibrandi, Director of the Achievement Academy said, "AUS is proud to extend its community education partnership with Al Dhaid Cultural and Sport Club. Our collective efforts have been a solid success; hundreds of community participants have been awarded certificates of completion and excellence by completing our wide range of course offerings. We look forward to continued success in serving members of our community who are dedicated to lifelong learning."
The ceremony was also attended by Salem Yousef Al Qaseer, Vice Chancellor for Public Affairs and other senior AUS officials. Present from the Club's side were Salem Mohammad Bin Huwaiden, Member of the Fedeeral National Council and Vice Chairman of the Club, Board Members Saeed Obaid Al Tunaiji and khalifa Sultan Al Jari as well as Dr. Homoud Al Anzi Director of the Club.
