AUS signs MoU with Scholars International Academy
As part of its successful Sharakah program, American University of Sharjah (AUS) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Scholars International Academy, Sharjah. The program, one of the university’s community engagement initiatives, fosters partnerships between AUS and select schools from around the country.
Professor Kevin Mitchell, AUS Chancellor, and Dr. Paul Lieblich, Principal of Scholars International Academy, attended the virtual ceremony along with other senior officials from both institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Mitchell said: “We are pleased to welcome the Scholars International Academy to the AUS Sharakah program, which focuses on establishing mutually beneficial partnerships aimed at advancing education in the UAE. We look forward to working with colleagues at Scholars International Academy to provide academic and extracurricular opportunities for students.”
Dr. Lieblich also welcomed the partnership and said: “We are honored to be collaborating with AUS. It is great for a school to be reaching out beyond our fences and to be connecting to a higher-level program. Having this kind of connection provides a significant doorway for our students to continue on.”
The agreement aims to enhance collaboration between AUS and Scholars International Academy through the recruitment of outstanding students from varied socio-cultural and economic backgrounds to the university. According to the MoU, AUS will provide partial scholarships to deserving students nominated by the school and offer support for research, cultural, social and sports events organized by the school. The school students will also have the opportunity to actively participate in the annually planned university events, and cultural and extracurricular activities.
The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Juan Sanchez, Provost and Chief Academic Officer at AUS, who said: “I am very pleased to welcome Scholars International Academy to the family of Sharakah schools. The Sharakah program has been very successful and beneficial to both AUS and to the member schools so I am quite confident that the partnership we are launching today will be equally successful.”
“We welcome Scholars International Academy to our Sharakah program. Our experience has shown us that agreements such as these have a great, mutual impact wherein both institutions are enriched by the collaboration. We are very keen to ensure that this partnership will benefit both parties. Once again, I welcome Scholars Academy to the MoU and look forward to a productive collaboration,” said Ali Shuhaimy, Executive Director of Enrollment Management at AUS.
