AUS Spring 2019 New Student Cohort Enjoy Orientation Week
AUS organized a week-long orientation activities starting on January 18 for Spring 2019 new student cohort that aimed to help ease their transition into university life and to familiarize them with the various extracurricular activities the university has to offer.
Orientation Week, organized by the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) with the participation of active returning student members of clubs and organizations, was held at the Student Center where new students enjoyed open-house activities such as computer games, DJ music, movies, table tennis, foosball, PlayStation and table games, in addition to city tours around Sharjah organized by the university’s Multicultural Learning Program in collaboration with Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority. The tour included visits to the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, Rain Room and Al Qasba. Further, new students had the opportunity to tour the university's sports facilities, learn about the Peer Leaders program, and the Judicial Affairs Code of Conduct.
A reception dinner was attended by 100 new students followed by a number of activities and performances by the Egyptian, Indian and Palestinian Cultural Clubs. The gathering provided an opportunity for OSA administrators to interact with the new students and introduce them to the non-academic services and extracurricular opportunities offered. The dinner was attended by Dr. Juan Sanchez Mangold, Provost and Chief Academic Officer; Munketh Taha, Director of Student Development and Organizations Department; and other officials from OSA.
