AUS students elect their Student Council for academic year 2022-2023

Students at American University of Sharjah (AUS) elected their new student council members for the 2022-2023 academic year. 

Organized by the AUS Office of Student Affairs, the elections saw three student teams competing for the 14 positions on the Student Council. Members of the Student Council are elected annually by the AUS student body. The election provides an opportunity for students to select their representatives who will be their voice for issues and ideas about student life.

Talking about the AUS Student Council’s vision, Layan Al Sourani, President of AUS Student Council 2022-2023, said: “Our board aims to be truly for the students and to create a comfortable space in which any student can come forth with any ideas. We believe it is our duty to not only be a listening ear, but to also take action and work together to enhance AUS life for generations to come.” 

The AUS Student Council is dedicated to the continuous development and welfare of the AUS community. Its mission is to represent the students and give them the opportunity to communicate their views. It provides resources for the various student organizations and clubs, offering guidance and support, in an attempt to build a generation that is established on the notions of teamwork, dedication and responsibility.
