Two students from American University of Sharjah (AUS) have recently been elected as members of the board of the Emirates Youth Council. Reem Al Nuaimi, who is studying electrical engineering at AUS, and Alia Al Huzami, an international studies major, will be representing the emirates of Dubai and Sharjah respectively on the board. They are among five other board members, each a representative of one of the seven emirates.
Approved by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the board will be led by Her Excellency Shamma Suhail Faris Al Mazroui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, as its chairperson. All the board members were selected based on their educational qualifications and practical experience.
The council aims to launch and support initiatives focused on empowering and encouraging excellence in youth. It will set policies and devise strategies guided by the government.
Other members of the council include Ahmed Al Suwaidi, representing the emirate of Abu Dhabi; Shaima Al Hosani, representing the emirate of Ajman; Saif Al Ali, representing the emirate of Umm Al Qaiwain; Meera Al Muhairi, representing the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah; and Sendeya Saad, representing the emirate of Fujairah.
