AUS students explore Louvre Abu Dhabi
The Student Multicultural Learning Program at American University of Sharjah (AUS) organized a trip for 35 students to Louvre Abu Dhabi, to see the incredible paintings, drawings, sculptures, manuscripts, archaeological findings and decorative arts on display.
Students from the different colleges at AUS and mostly from College of Architecture, Art and Design (CAAD) discovered the art, ideas, people and politics behind the conceptions and monuments. The group was given an extensive tour of the museum and explained the background of the art collections exhibited, which comprised a blend of Western and Eastern art; many artworks were inspired by Islamic and Arabic art and culture, as well as other local, historical influences.
Commenting on the visit, Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Dean of Students at AUS, said:
“We are proud to have the Louvre in the heart of Abu Dhabi. The aim of the visit was to expose the students to the fascinating art collections at the Louvre in order to inspire them and enlighten them about the artistic and cultural themes and nuances behind the masterpieces.”
