AUS students participate in Women as Global Leaders conference
Students from the Student Leadership Program at American University of Sharjah (AUS) recently attended the Women as Global Leaders conference held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak. The conference took place in Zayed University, Abu Dhabi, March 13-15 and focused on creating a sustainable future.
With more than 30 speakers, the conference brought together influential figures giving students the opportunity to meet with women who are making a difference in their communities. The topics discussed were mainly to inspire women and give incentives towards development, productivity and success.
According to Tarneem Alagha, a management information systems major, "Women as Global Leaders was a great learning experience; it wasn't only about listening to speakers but rather it was an opportunity to meet and understand their success. I was inspired by how they reached and achieved where they are now. One of the most important aspects of my participation has been networking, and as a result I have met great individuals that are already making a difference in my life."
"Women's leadership is special to us; we established the Women's Leadership and Enrichment Program to enhance development opportunities for female students and allow them to take part in conferences and activities related to women's leadership. We must not forget that women play a pivotal role in our society and their influence on their communities, families and the generation ahead is enormous," said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs."
