AUS students to compete in debating championship in Sweden
Two American University of Sharjah (AUS) students will represent the university at the Lund IV British Parliament Debating Championship organized by Lund Debate Society in Sweden, from December 6 to 8 2013. Students Tuqa Khalid and Mamour Ahmed from the AUS Debate Club have been chosen to compete in the event after a stringent selection process.
The Lund IV Debating Championship will follow the British Parliament style with about ten countries participating in the annual event.
"The AUS Debate Club has made significant achievements in terms of promoting their engagements at the international level. This is the third country they are visiting to compete after Bangladesh and Indonesia," said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. "The debate championship in Sweden is good exposure for our students and an excellent platform for them to hone their debating skills and network with their peers from across the globe. I am confident that they will continue to be good ambassadors of the university and I wish them good luck in this event," she added.
The students' participation in the international event was arranged by Office of Student Affairs' Student Development and Organizations Department.
